Basically he "got" that nickname during his time in The Clash..

When someone noticed his startling resemblence to 1940's English Music Hall Entertainer and War Time Propagandist...

Mr Tommy Trinder..

(Up to that point Mr Jones had always assumed he looked like a young Tony Curtis/Montgomery Clift..I kid you not!)

Not surprisingly "Jonesy" is very uncomfortable with this nickname..

(Joe "Woody" Strummer used to torment him with it during the Clash years whenever Jones was in need of knocking down a few "ego" pegs which of course was very often...)

He also is not overly keen to discuss his "limited jewishness"..

He hardly mentions it when in his home country of England..

Although he does "play it up" when he is trying to sell himself in America..

(His ex-US manager made a big deal about "Brit" Jonesy actually being Jewish to try getting attention from US labels but they were unimpressed by his ACTUAL poor songs and very dated image which is truly all that counts with those money men...)

His "working class" roots are also as well hidden as his grey hair..

(Except of course when they can be used to "market" yet another Clash album to a middle aged music magazine who think Eric Clapton is still cutting edge...)

Nowadays he remains most in Somerset (England)...

(like most of the ex-punks he has moved out of "violent" London..etc)

Logs onto the internet to read "DRYBABY" sites with his mate Tony James who gave the world the one-hit-wonders S.S.Sputnik forever and ever..

(Jones likes TJ as he is an even bigger asshole than he is so it makes him feel superior which is a very rare feeling for him..!)
